1 in 10000 for 1500 in Newsworthy by ricky carrasco

If you're unemployed like me, and you went to the Job Fair today, these were the odds you / I were fighting. 10000 applicants for 1500 jobs. This is the second time in my life I've been in a line like this and its gotten more difficult with age, not easier. I arrived relatively late because I came down with a cold just yesterday, and when I came to this corner, my heart sank. Funny thing is, the entire time I kept thinking about how good a field trip this would have been for my high school seniors last year; I could show/teach the importance of everything from appearance and posture to grammar and speech. Probably wouldn't have been approved anyway. It doesn't fit in the curriculum (I apologize for my cynicism, won't happen again).

I love the job, the kids...even the parents. I don't know how even my best 'old school' teachers would survive these rules.
