Passion in Everyday Life by ricky carrasco
Location: Juarez Cathedral Plaza
When we ran into Mazatzin 4 months ago, we found him dancing in front of the Cathedral in downtown Juarez. There was another dancer next to him, presumably in competition with him. Mazatzin was simply more "into" his dance. His expressions were more passionate, his movements more crisp and knowledgeable. It was several minutes before he even acknowledged I was shooting him. This shot is the first time he saw me, the b/w shot is the second. I chose the chapter because this is his everyday life, dancing for money from spectators like me. Material like this is what draws me into photography and why I'm thankful for this platform to show what I've seen.
